Madras Project, Martinique

In April, 2017 I traveled to Martinique (FWI) as part of my Leonore Annenberg Fellowship. My work there was focused on building and working with community to ask questions about identity, heritage, tradition and independence, using Madras fabric as the impetus for the work. I allowed the conversations surrounding these questions to inform actions that aimed to co-opt symbols associated with the country's  past to propose new associations moving into the future.
